October 2009

October 2009

At this writing, I am in our Conference Room during our Annual Council Meeting.  I wish you all could be here.  It is so exciting to listen to the reports and see how faithful God has been to this church planting mission.  But the highlight was yesterday, interviewing new church planting candidates.  The Lord of the harvest sent seventeen new church planters through Baptist Church Planters this year.  Listening to the testimonies of these new church planters is thrilling.  This family of church planters is unique in this way:
• The class is multi-ethnic.  Anglo, Black and Hispanic.
• Many of the members of this class were saved while in military service.
• The age of the class spanned from the 30’s to the 70’s.

The coming CONNECT will give you more information and pictures of this fine candidate class.

Also, our Council has new members.
• Pastor Paul Reimer, Newark, OH
• Pastor Tom Petro, Prescott Valley, AZ (re-elected)
• Missionary Scott Greening, Chicago area
• Missionary Tim Heinrich, Tracy, CA
• Missionary Roy Cupples, Fullerton, NE
• Layman Howard Fraser, New Woodstock, NY

The pastors (9) on our Council are elected by supporting churches and the missionaries (8) by their fellow missionaries.  The laymen (4) are appointed by the Council upon recommendation from the administration or Council.  Each of these men come at their own expense and serve churches and missionaries because they have a heart for church planting.  We are indebted to these fine men and their churches.

Financially, contributors have given more this year than any other year.  We are surviving by God’s goodness.  Although interest income is down, service fees are down (missionaries getting less support) and our Reserve Fund is low, yet God has provided.  We are very grateful to Him and to those He has used to continue this great ministry.

Please pray for our staff as we participate in many mission conferences in churches and on college campuses this fall.  Pray the Lord of the harvest will send forth laborers for His harvest.
