Gathering
The gathering…called the rapture of the church could take place any moment. We are listening for the trumpet. Paul encouraged the church in Thessalonica to be comforted by the imminent coming of Christ. What a gathering that will be when we are all with HIM!
Talking about gathering, our BCP mission family assembled at Faith Baptist Bible College and Seminary for encouragement, reporting, fellowship, and teaching. Dr. Jim Maxwell, president of the college was the key- note speaker. Dr. John Hartog III ably handled the Word of God each evening. Open Door Baptist Church of New Woodstock came to work with the children. This wonderful church has served in this manner four times, costing the church thousands of dollars, but willing to help our mission family. Ankeny Baptist Church provided the nursery workers and David and Melissa Whitcher met with the teens. What a great week. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the children play together. Our mission family is much younger than in days gone by. This is great news as we think of the future of the mission. On a final note, I want to thank two donors that made it possible to keep costs to a minimum. Thanks donors.
Thinking of donors, one of them just stopped in at the office. Bob Barr (former Council member and volunteer) is now living at Maranatha Village in Sebring. He is a delightful brother in the Lord. We congratulate brother Bob and his new bride-to-be, Esther, as they prepare for an October 10th wedding. Bob is 88 and going strong. When you are in the area, do as Bob did, stop by.
Candidate School is just around the corner. We’re gearing up and preparing for a good group of potential church planters. We have lead church planters, associates, tentmakers, Apollos (semi-retired pastors and missionaries), and consultants coming this year. I’ll let you know more about the final number next month. Please pray each person will know God’s will and follow Him.
